Qtel announced the successful hosting of a one-day seminar on Managed Services on the 22nd of June 2006 at the Four Seasons Hotel.

The invitation-only seminar, titled “Managed Services Empower Your Business” was arranged for corporate customers whose organizations rely on, or could benefit from, Managed Services such as Internet Protocol Virtual Private Networks  (IP-VPN), enhanced Virtual Private Networks (eVPN) and  IP telephony for the smooth and effective functioning of their organizations.

Qtel had partnered with AT&T, NavLink and Cisco to host the seminar where key speakers from the three companies spoke about the many features and benefits of the leading-edge technologies including the world-class services provided by the Qatar Data Center..

Mr. Khalil Al Emadi, Qtel’s Executive Director for Wireline Services, who opened the seminar said, “Since we launched the Qatar Data Center last year, more and more companies in Qatar and within the region are opening up to the idea of striving for stable, reliable and secure locations to host and manage their network and computer servers with mission critical applications and databases.”

“Our aim, through the seminar, was to educate and demonstrate to key decision makers how managed services, will help their business realize the value of  managed services and how such services add another level of risk management, reliability, performance and security to their business operations.”

The Qatar Data Center, a joint partnership between Qtel, AT&T and NavLink, has been built to the highest internationally specified standards and specifications. It is the first and the only center of its class in Qatar to design, provision, host and manage IP solutions in a seamless manner from transmission to applications. Its location in Doha provides it with the advantage of being in an attractive center in the Gulf region as well as a desirable point of presence in the Middle East to lure many new businesses to invest and contribute to the economy of Qatar.

Qatar Data Centre is also the home of AT&T’s first ever Middle East Global Node (AGN).  This means that customers using Qatar DC also have access to what is probably the world’s largest Virtual Private Network.

“We hope to continue hosting similar seminars for our corporate customers in the near future. Such events are an excellent networking opportunity for high level executives and business managers to not only learn about the effectiveness of managed services but also talk to organizations who have successfully implemented such services,” concluded Mr. Al-Emadi.
