Broadband

The generic description of high-speed Internet access which can be applied to fixed and wireless connectivity

Browser

A program that allows you to access and view information on the Internet through the World Wide Web. SPRY Mosaic and Lynx are examples of World Wide Web browser programs.

Database

A collection of information organized in a manner that makes it easy to access. There are many different ways to organize or structure the data stored in databases. There are thousands of databases on the Internet containing a wide variety of information.

Dial-up

A way of connecting to the internet via a telephone line.

Download

To transfer a file from a remote computer to your computer. You can download files to your computer using File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

E

E-mail Address

A method used to send and receive messages over a network. You use an e-mail program to compose and send a message, and it is sent to a remote mailbox, where it can be retrieved and read by the addressee.

Mozaic Tarjim

Tarjim is an SMS based translation service which enables customers to translate words or short phrases from English to Arabic and vice versa

Muzdawaj

Literally meaning ‘double’ this is Qtel’s twin SIM card service allowing subscribers to have two SIM cards with the same phone number.

With MyTones you can now select tones to entertain your callers until you answer the call

Microwave Video Distribution System. A cable television protocol allowing two way services, three premium broadcasting channel packages and access to the World Wide Web. Use all capitals.
